Quick on the draw

I was at the University of Warwick for the first VIBE workshop last week. It’s part of a course that aims to help final year PhD students and early career academics in the social sciences engage with the world of business in order to find support and patronage for future research.

It was an interesting session, and I’m looking forward to the next one in a couple of week’s time. As someone who spends a lot of time working alone, it was particularly invigorating to meet and talk to so many smart and energised people, each working on their own innovative, exciting project. It really felt like a privilege to be part of the group.

One of the highlights of the day was the in-house artist, Jack. Whilst we spoke, he sketched, capturing the salient points of the morning in cartoon form on a 4 meter long wall. The final product was the aesthetically pleasing aide memoir pictured here. I’d never seen this done before, and was thoroughly impressed!
